The design for the New York City offices of NARAL provided an environment where private and sensitive conversations could be held at one’s desk without distraction. With a very small budget, EOA created comfortable and warm areas for each desk with walls built of sanded homosote, an acoustical wall product that is typically installed within walls for sound insulation. Adaptable meeting space with a small kitchen, storage and executive office space was integrated into a large loft area. The scale and layout of spaces encouraged a feeling of shared purpose and a collaborative environment while at the same time providing quiet areas for work.
